On Friday, February 26, City Year Boston was thrilled to welcome 400 leaders from the area's top law firms, in-house counsels, and consulting firms at our seventh annual Legal Community Breakfast. The event raised more than $150,000, which will support City Year Boston's young leaders in service as tutors, mentors, and role models to thousands of students in in our community.

City Year AmeriCorps member Tyler Green shared his experience working alongside his partner teacher Emmanuel Fairley, a former City Year AmeriCorps member and current Boston Public Schools teacher. Additionally, we were honored to welcome Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey, a champion for education in the Commonwealth, who shared her thoughts on City Year's service to Boston Public Schools:

I was blown away by the commitment these young leaders have made to improve the lives of the kids they serve. City Year Boston AmeriCorps members offer these kids so much more than academic support. They offer these kids hope. Possibility. A shoulder to lean on and an ear to listen. That kind of “whole child” approach to their work is what makes a partner like City Year so important, not only to the kids they serve but to our greater community.

—Maura Healey, Attorney General of Massachusetts

We at City Year Boston would like to express our sincere thanks to Attorney General Healey and to the sponsors and guests that made this event such a success. Our AmeriCorps members could not deliver the powerful, effective service they do to the students of Boston without such strong champions.

Thanks also to our Co-Chairs Joe Capraro, Rupa Cornell, and Carrie Web Olson, and to our generous sponsors.
