Microsoft and City Year Inspire Students Through Computer Science Learning
Cade was first introduced to computer science in sixth grade by Microsoft coders, engineers and executives who volunteer for an "Hour of Code" in City Year partner schools. Hour of Code is a global movement started by nonprofit Code.org that engages students in fun coding activities during Computer Science Week in December. These learning activities spark an interest in students like Cade to participate in City Year led computer science opportunities offered throughout the year.

City Year Baton Rouge Expands to Broadmoor High School
Trey is one of eight City Year Baton Rouge AmeriCorps members serving 325 ninth-grade students at Broadmoor High School. This is City Year’s first year partnering with Broadmoor High School, though we’ve served at Broadmoor Middle School since 2011. Our expansion to Broadmoor High is supported by a contribution from AT&T. Now that City Year is in both schools, we are able to help students have an easier transition to high school, often a challenging experience.
