How I earned a $13,500 Scholarship for Graduate School

Lola Esmieu did not imagine that serving as a City Year AmeriCorps member would ultimately lead her to discover her career aspirations. Read how Lola earned a scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education through City Year's university partnership. Lola is currently the Associate Director for Programs at the Penn Center for Minority Serving Institutions and attributes both her higher education and career trajectory to her service with City Year.

From City Year to Peace Corps - Always Wearing The Red Jacket

Simon Miller currently serves with the Peace Corps as an English teaching consultant in Arekit, Ethiopia. He helps local teachers improve their teaching methodology and knowledge of the English language by conducting professional development trainings and teacher mentorship programs. Before relocating to Ethiopia, Simon served with City Year Philadelphia from 2011-2013.
