On Friday, April 28th, City Year Orlando welcomed Universal Orlando Resort’s human resources team as a part of Comcast NBCUniversal HR Day. Universal Orlando Foundation sponsors two City Year Orlando teams and is fully committed to the continued development of each AmeriCorps member. The session opened with a welcome from Diane O'Dell, City Year Orlando board member and Vice President, Community & Diversity Relations at Universal Orlando.
As City Year Orlando AmeriCorps members prepare to graduate, they continue to build upon and hone in on the skills they will need to excel as professionals. In a presentation, the Universal Orlando human resources team shared important tips on how to succeed in an interview.
Afterwards, the AmeriCorps members split into small groups to practice interview skills. Each group, led by a human resources team member, participated in mock interviews questions they may encounter as it relates to their resume.
“I have trouble coming up with examples of things I’ve done that relate to the [interviewer’s] question,” an AmeriCorps member, admitted during the mock-interview.
After answering the questions directed at her, observing her group members and giving advice of her own, she felt more prepared for future interview questions. Thanks to Universal Orlando, City Year Orlando AmeriCorps members are more prepared than ever to enter our community after their year of service.
