Mike is the proud Impact Manager serving at Ribault Middle School.

Why did you choose to join the City Year Team?

I chose to join the City Year staff team because of how inspired I was after my AmeriCorps service years. I saw the great successes my students were able to achieve with a little extra support, and I wanted to continue to be a part of that.

What is your favorite City Year culture piece?

My favorite City Year culture piece is the uniform (by a long shot). I love what our uniform represents: national service, positivity, inspiration, and dedication. When I'm in my khakis and red jacket students automatically assume things about me, and they are great things. In uniform, to a student, I'm not "Mike". I'm "City Year", and that is something I am extremely proud to be.

If happiness was the national currency, what job would make you rich?

This is a phenomenal question. If happiness was the national currency, I would be extremely rich if I were running a youth summer camp on a tropical island.

What is your favorite book?

"Tuesdays with Morrie" by Mitch Albom. I think the world would be a much better place if everyone were to read this book.

What is your personal motto?

Work smarter, not harder. - Thanks to my Dad, Big Mike, for that one.

What is on your bucket list?

  • A few buddies and I want to renovate an old school bus and take two weeks to drive it from Delaware to California.
  • I would also like to visit Italy some time in the near future.
  • Lastly, I'd really like to take my family on a surprise vacation (hopefully they aren't reading this).
