On Friday, City Year Baton Rouge's 2014-2015 corps came together for the last time to reflect on their year, celebrate their achievements, and receive their diplomas. In a touching and uplifting graduation ceremony, these 64 young idealists officially completed their year of service and became members of the 22,000+ City Year alumni community. In front of family, friends, and school partners, they pledged to remain leaders for life. Check out the photos below and read more about the celebration.

A very special thanks to our team sponsors for being present to award diplomas to our graduates, and to Raising Cane's for providing refreshments!

City Year alumni mix and mingle with corps members, minutes before they are to become alumni themselves!

Corps members Curtis Gillam, Lindsay LaFleur, and Helen Seder were chosen to address the corps, reflecting on their year and accomplishments.

Lauren Betik, of the Lamar Advertising Company team at Melrose Elementary School, was chosen as the recipient of this year's Jennifer Eplett Reilly Leadership in Education Award. The $250 award is given annually to an outstanding corps member who will remain in the classroom after City Year, in order to help them buy supplies and materials for their classroom. Next year, Lauren will teach art in Baker, Louisiana.

The Capital Area United Way team at Capitol Middle School show off their hard-earned diplomas! They are joined by CMS Principal Viola Jackson and CMS Assistant Principal Dianna Adkinson.

The corps is officially inducted into the alumni community as they recite the City Year alumni pledge, joining a community of 22,000+ leaders for life!

Corps members pose with Volunteer Louisiana Exective Director Judd Jeansonne and Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden. Both gentlemen delivered remarks during the ceremony. Jeansonne thanked the corps for dedicating a year to something larger than themselves, while Mayor Holden officially declared May 22, 2015 as City Year Baton Rouge Day!

Alliana Cox received a congratulatory (or farewell?) hug from her teammate.
