On the beautiful Saturday morning of October 17th, AmeriCorps members gathered at Melrose Elementary to beautify the outside of the school. AmeriCorps members along with volunteers from the community and our awesome team sponsor, Lamar Advertising Company, worked on projects such bringing the community garden back to life, repainting the lines on the basketball court, and adding new games like foursquare and hop-scotch.

When asked, our corps volunteers said that they expect the students and staff to react with excitement and and idealistic enthusiasm. We always strive to instill idealism and generosity in all the students and communities we serve in. All agreed that participating in this service project will allow the students to take more ownership of their school. This amazing service day couldn't have been completed without the generous donations from Home Depot, Sherwinn Williams, Lowe's, and Clegg's Nursery.
