I chose to first serve with CYBR in 2012 because Baton Rouge had become a second home to me. I wanted to do something to give back to the community. Little did I know the impact that joining CYBR would have on my life. It was here that I've met some of my friends who will be my friends for the rest of my life. I learned so much about service and how important it is to give back. My first two years with City Year were amazing. I got to develop both personally and professionally and City Year was a big part of that development and growth. I chose to come back as an Impact Manager this year because I firmly believe in the mission of City Year and I got to see first hand the type of impact that we have on the students in East Baton Rouge. I felt like I started a new journey with CYBR back in 2012 and this journey is not yet complete. So many people in City Year have had a major impact on my life starting with the students, to my fellow AmeriCorps members, and the staff as well. We should all be looking for ways to pay it forward and give back constantly. Thats why I chose to come back to CYBR.
