Tufts University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences offers City Year AmeriCorps members, alums and staff

25% scholarships

The scholarship amount will be equal to 25% of the yearly tuition for up to 10 City Year applicants per year for graduate programs in the School of Arts and Sciences. Scholarship recipients will be recognized as City Year National Service Scholars.

Scholarships are awarded to City Year AmeriCorps members and alums who complete at least one term of service and City Year staff employed for at least two years.

The scholarships described above represent the minimum awards; applicants will be considered for additional merit-based aid depending on the strength of their application.

  • Enrollment deferral: a one-year deferral for students admitted to a graduate program who decide to serve additional time with City Year before starting their studies.

Graduate programs offered through the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Tufts University are distinguished by their innovative courses, close student-faculty interactions and mentoring opportunities and the exciting collaborations that occur between disciplines and schools at Tufts. The school offers 14 doctoral programs and 32 master’s level programs in arts and sciences. Check the box next to “Current City Year Corps member or Alumni” under the “application information” section of the online application to identify your City Year affiliation.

To access the application fee waiver and apply for the scholarship

To get the application fee waived, a service verification letter must be requested by emailing alumni@cityyear.org with “Tufts Application: City Year verification letter request” in the subject line. Within the email, include the site where you served and dates of service. This letter will be sent electronically to the graduate admissions office and added to your applicant file.
