Texas A&M University’s Bush School of Government and Public Service offers City Year AmeriCorps members, alums and staff

35-100% tuition scholarships

The Bush School in College Station provides merit scholarships and non-resident tuition waivers to ALL City Year applicants admitted full-time to the following programs:

These Bush School Scholarships are guaranteed at $5,000 per year but can reach higher depending on the strength of the applicant’s merit. Additionally, out-of-state students receive a non-resident tuition waiver that qualifies them for Texas resident rates, saving them approximately $12,700 per year.

Scholarships are renewable at the same rate in their second year of the program (with good academic standing) -OR- students can compete for graduate assistant positions, working for faculty or staff for 20 hours per week for a nicer stipend.

Scholarships are awarded to City Year AmeriCorps members and alums who complete at least one term of service and staff employed for at least two years.

Additional benefits

  • Application fee paid by the Bush School
  • Enrollment deferral: A one-year deferral can be granted to Master of Public Service and Administration students who decide to serve additional time with City Year before starting their studies (consideration is on a case-by-case basis for the Master of International Affairs). Funding does not roll over; it’s reevaluated the following year.
