Southwestern University offers City Year AmeriCorps members, alums and staff

20% scholarships

A minimum of 20% tuition scholarships will be awarded to 5 City Year applicants (AmeriCorps members, alumni who completed at least one year of service, and City Year staff members employed for at least two years are eligible) for Southwestern’s undergraduate programs.

Scholarships are renewable for up to 4 years (8 semesters) for First-Year and/or transfer students. Students must meet scholarship renewable criteria, including maintaining a gpa of 2.0 or better and continued full time enrollment. Eligible prospective participants will also need to meet all applicable admissions standards as set forth by the university.

Students may be eligible for additional merit scholarship and need-based aid.

Benefits will be available for those admitted for Fall 2024 or later.

  • Admitted students will be permitted to defer enrollment by one year if they decide to serve for additional time with City Year before starting their studies.

Currently serving corps members are encouraged to apply during their corps year; although enrolment may be deferred if a corps member decides to participate for an additional year.

To identify your City Year affiliation and apply for the scholarship:

A service verification letter must be requested by emailing alumni@cityyear.org with “Southwestern University” in the subject line. Within the email, include your service site and corps graduation month and year.

This letter will be sent electronically by City Year to the Southwestern University Admission Office to be added to your applicant file.
