Why City Year loves Boston College’s Lynch School of Education and Human Development

At the Carolyn A. and Peter S. Lynch School of Education and Human Development, the mission driving the work of its faculty and students is to enhance the human condition, expand the human imagination and make the world more just. It puts this mission into action through teaching, research and service—informing policy, improving practice and preparing students to serve diverse populations in a variety of roles.

The Donovan Urban Teaching Scholars Program builds on specific programs of study with interactive urban education seminars, critical inquiry research, social justice education and community building that is responsive to the academic and socio-cultural needs of youth and their families. This intensive one-year master’s in education learning experience leading to teacher licensure seeks to prepare K-12 teachers to work effectively with students and families in systemically under-resourced schools throughout the country.
