City Year is proud to partner with Columbia University's School of Social Work, a leader in social work education and research since 1898, offering annual tuition scholarships.
Columbia University’s School of Social Work offers City Year AmeriCorps members, alums and staff
Three $15,000 awards (equal to 30% of tuition) and one $20,000 award (equal to 40% of tuition) will be awarded to up to four City Year applicants per year.
The scholarship may be renewed in subsequent years of the program for up to three years for full-time students.
Scholarships are awarded to City Year AmeriCorps members and alums who complete at least one term of service and City Year staff employed for at least two years.
The scholarships described above represent the minimum awards; applicants will be considered for additional merit-based aid depending on the academic strength of their application.

- Enrollment deferral: Admitted students may defer enrollment by one year if they decide to serve additional time with City Year before starting their studies.

To access the application fee waiver and apply for the scholarship
To get the application fee waived and be considered for the scholarship, please request an official service verification letter by emailing the City Year Alumni & Career Services Department at firstname.lastname@example.org with “Columbia SSW: City Year verification letter request” in the subject line. Within the email, include the site where you served and dates of service. The letter will be emailed to the School of Social Work’s admissions office. Please note that application fees that have already been paid will NOT be refunded.
