Your practical preparation happens directly in the classroom where you learn how to serve all students, create an inclusive classroom environment and become an integral part of a school and community. New York University Teacher Residency team provides you mentoring, coaching, advising and moral support, creating a safe and effective environment for you to learn and grow.

The teacher residency partners with school districts and charter organizations that share its goal to transform teacher preparation. Participation in the residency must be with one of its partner schools in these regions: New York City; Upstate and Central New York (Albany, Rochester & Syracuse); Washington, D.C.; or Rhode Island. The City Year experience is a strong indicator of future success at New York University’s Teacher Residency, and serving with City Year strengthens an applicant’s chances of being selected as a teacher resident.
