Why City Year loves City on a Hill’s Teaching Fellows Program
City on a Hill Charter Public School strives to provide a nurturing environment for aspiring teachers to become effective educators and believes that all students can and must achieve at high levels. It empowers students to do so by cultivating a connected, supportive community of scholars, families and staff who are committed to growing and making decisions that reflect antiracist values.
The Teaching Fellows Program is designed to nurture and grow the next generation of City on a Hill teachers with an explicit focus on recruiting educators who reflect the diversity of City on a Hill’s student body. Teaching Fellows are trained and mentored throughout the one-year program (beginning in mid-August) by veteran City on a Hill teachers while taking graduate courses at Boston University toward a Master of Education degree. The City Year experience strengthens an applicant’s competitiveness and chances for being selected for City on a Hill’s Teaching Fellows Program.
