The Red Jacket Society is a growing community of philanthropic leaders and families who believe in the power of the City Year jacket to help students meet their greatest potential. We need people like you who share our belief that we all benefit when we invest in the success of young people.
Worn by more than 35,000 young adults over three decades and 3,000 current City Year AmeriCorps members, the City Year jacket is an inspiring symbol of commitment, optimism and service to others. City Year AmeriCorps members serve students for a year or more at 300+ public schools across the country as student success coaches who help learners develop key skills and mindsets and engage more deeply with their learning.
The personalized supports provided by City Year AmeriCorps members, who serve as tutors, mentors and role models in systemically under-resourced schools, advance educational equity and contribute to thriving communities. Research shows that our strategy to strengthen both academic and social-emotional skills, like teamwork and perseverance, helps students succeed.
As part of a dedicated and dynamic network of champions and leaders, the Red Jacket Society is helping students in 29 cities across the U.S. stay on track to graduate from high school ready for college and career success.
