YOUNG HEROES
Young Heroes is a five-month service-learning program for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students in the DC-metro area. Young Heroes work in diverse teams to learn the value and importance of teamwork, establish common ground, and break down social barriers.Young Heroes seeks to foster the development of middle school youth into active citizens through out-of-school service learning

 

In addition to a Young Heroes program, City Year Washington, DC is excited to announce its pilot City Hero program for 2008-2009. We're looking for 30 dedicated high school aged individuals to be a part of the pilot program this year.

CITY HEROES 
City Heroes is a leadership development program for 9th – 12th grade students that empowers them to be positive members of their community and play a role as the leaders of today.  They spend 2-3 weekends a month from December – May building their awareness and understanding of social issues in their community.  They are able to take part in planning and carrying out hands-on community service projects in the DC Metro area such as painting murals and working in community gardens.
