Join City Year Washington, DC on Friday, September 30, 2011 as 160 young leaders - called corps members - will pledge to make a difference in the schools and neighborhoods of Washington, DC. These diverse young leaders of the City Year Washington, DC 2011-2012 corps will be in the company of family, friends, civic leaders and community supporters on City Year Washington, DC's Opening Day, sponsored by Comcast. 

They will join nearly 2,000 other diverse 17-24 year olds in 21 communities across America who will also be sworn in as City Year corps members that day. Corps members commit themselves to a year of full-time service in Washington, DC's schools and communities. In Washington, DC this year, City Year corps members will work as tutors, mentors and role models to make a difference in the lives of more than 4,500 DC children.
