A Day in the Life

When you serve with City Year every day is a chance to make a difference.  No two days will be exactly alike, but here is an example of what a typical day might be like with City Year Seattle/King County:

A typical day for a Getting Youth Beyond Barriers in School corps member :

6:30 to 8 am – Get ready for the day and travel to your service site

8:30 am – Student arrival; thought of the day question

8:40 am – Lead physical training (PT) with the students and circle up

8:50 am – Lead a reflection activity

9:15 am — Enrichment period (one-on-one tutoring and mentoring)

10:15 am – Break

10:25 am – Facilitate a conflict resolution workshop

11:40 am – Lunch

12:10 pm – Help support a role model workshop

1:30 pm – Finding your strength session (one-on-one tutoring and mentoring)

2:15 pm – Closing circle and wrap up

2:30 pm – Student dismissal

2:30 to 3 pm – Take a break and plan upcoming service

3 to 5 pm – Tutor a student during after-school programming

5 pm – Break for the day
