MLK Day of Service was Presented by:
City Year Seattle/King County honored the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in several ways:
Launching our
Young Heroes and
City Heroes on Saturday, January 17, 2009 – programs led by corps members that engage over 100 Seattle and King County middle and high school students in service initiatives.
Through a transformative service day on Monday, January 19, 2009, that was led by corps members and engaged Heroes, their friends and families, alumni, community volunteers and corporate partners to make a difference in Seattle and King County’s neighborhoods.
We accomplised so much with 369 volunteers joining us for a total of 2,442 hours of service. We partnered with 13 schools and nonprofits to complete 163 projects. Below is a snapshot of our partners and what City Year and all our volunteers accomplished together:
