City Year in the Community

Opening Day
On October 7, 2011 please join City Year San José/Silicon Valley and over 100 guests including school administrators, corporate partners, and community leaders in celebrating the 53 corps members who will make this pledge to the Silicon Valley community.
Summer Leadership Academy
From August 4-16, City Year San José/Silicon Valley completed the third annual Summer Leadership Academy, engaging more than 200 San José students in educational and enrichment programming to excite and prepare them for the school year.
Open Houses
Our monthly Open Houses are a great way to learn more about City Year, network with other young people who want to make a difference, and begin your journey to changing the world.
NVIDIA Project Inspire
On Saturday, December 11, 2010 City Year San José/Silicon Valley partnered with NVIDIA Corporation to unite over 800 volunteers for the annual Project Inspire physical service day with History Park San José, Schmahl Science Center and the Kelly Park neighborhood in San José.
MLK Service Day
On Monday, January 17, 2011, over 200 corps members, students, families, friends, alumni, and corporate partners will join City Year San José/Silicon Valley at Daniel Lairon Elementary School in the Franklin-McKinley School District to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a day on, not a day off.
Global Youth Service Day
Global Youth Service Day is the largest annual celebration of young volunteers, where millions of young people in countries around the world carry out thousands of community improvement projects. City Year hosted a huge physical service day on April 16th, 2011 at Majestic Way Elementary School in San José. Click here for details about the day and what we accomplished.
Starry Starry Night
Thank you to the more than 380 citizen supporters, business and community leaders who came to celebrate City Year San José/Silicon Valley corps members and together raised over $260,000! Click here to read more about this event.
Graduation
On June 15, 2011, City Year San José/Silicon Valley Graduation celebrated the accomplishments of the 55 corps members who gave a year of their lives to make a difference in Silicon Valley schools and neighborhoods.
