MLK Service Day

Make it a "day on, not a day off"

MLK Service Day

Saturday, January 17, 2009
10AM to 4 PM
3502 Martin Luther King Dr.
San Antonio, TX 78220

In memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. City Year San Antonio, the Freedom Foundation, and the MLK Commission of San Antonio will present a day of service in the Civil Rights Memorial Botanical Garden on the east side of San Antonio. In the spirit of MLK's beloved community, this service project will engage and unify the east side in a day of powerful service. City Year and community volunteers will transform a park into a botanical garden dedicated to the proud heritage of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We will be building new flower boxes, planting trees, adding dirt and mulch to existing flower beds, painting murals, and cleaning up the park. It is not only a great opportunity to give back to the community, but also to honor the man who sacrificed so much in order to ensure a better future for so many.

Lunch will be provided to volunteers who sign up on the Web site: http://www.usaservice.org/page/event/detail/4jv3t
