The inspiring Young Heroes Opening Ceremony is held immediately before the March begins and is followed by a day of service where City Year Young Heroes, corps members, alumni, other AmeriCorps members and corporate partners celebrate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through a day or reflection and service in San Antonio.
After the ceremony, everyone will honor the memory of Dr. King as they march along the official San Antonio Martin Luther King, Jr. Day march route.
After the March
The City Year Corps will lead a Youth Education Area at the end of the march that serves over 300 children and teens. The educational activities are supervised by corps members and other AmeriCorps volunteers and range from financial literacy, creating "I have a dream" mobiles to Civil Rights Faces and Facts.
