I am in the 6th, 7th or 8th grade and I want to:
- Make my community a better place to live;
- Be part of creating a solution;
- Meet other middle school students like me who want to make a difference; and
- Earn the President’s Volunteer Service Award.
If this describes you, then you should be a part of the City Year Young Heroes program!
Last year, over 20 middle school students from across San Antonio participated in Young Heroes and here's what they had to say:
"Young Heroes helps me see beyond the limits and push myself to the best of my ability to make a difference."
-Eduardo, 7th Grade, Young Hero "Some of the people who have made a difference in my life are the City Year members, they are like an older sibling. They really mean something to me, and if I could I would let them live with me so they would NEVER go back to their home cities. That shows how much they have made a difference in my life. Also, all of my family has made the biggest difference in my life. If it wasn’t for them, I probably wouldn’t be where I am. The one who has made the biggest difference is my father. Right now he is in Iraq. He means so much to me and has probably made the biggest difference in my life out of my family. He is probably the biggest reason I am in Young Heroes. I really look up to him and since he is a hero of our nation, I guess I wanted to be hero like him, just not exactly the same kind."-Phoenix Alfaro, 8th Grade Young HeroTO APPLY
