Join City Year Rhode Island on Friday, October 1, 2010 as 50 young leaders - called corps members - will pledge to make a difference in the schools and neighborhoods of Providence. These diverse young leaders of the 2010-2011 corps will be in the company of family, friends, civic leaders and community supporters on City Year's Opening Day.
They will join more than 1,750 other diverse 17-24 year olds in 20 communities across America who will also be sworn in as City Year corps members that day. Corps members commit themselves to a year of full-time service in Providence's schools and communities. In Providence this year, City Year corps members will work as tutors, mentors and role models to keep students in school and on track to graduation.
