Starry Starry Night 2008
On Saturday, March 29th, at the Wentworth by the Sea hotel, hundreds of Granite Staters gathered for the seventh annual "Starry Starry Night" benefit gala, a black tie affair aimed at celebrating a year of service and the ability of one person to make a difference. The event was co-chaired by J. Bonnie Newman and Clark Dumont and featured Hank and Alison Stebbins who received the Lifetime of Service Award for their significant and long-lasting contributions to New Hampshire and its citizens.
City Year welcomed many special guests including Governor John Lynch and Dr. Susan Lynch, US Senator John Sununu, US Senator Judd Gregg and Kathy Gregg, Chancellor Stephen Reno, President Mark W. Huddleston of the University of New Hampshire, Dr. Sara Jayne Steen of the Plymouth State University as well as the Portsmouth Mayor Tom Ferrini among many other community leaders.
The event generated over $175,000 to support the work City Year corps members provide to students, schools and communities throughout New Hampshire. The City Year Board, staff and corps appreciate the support and participation of our corporate sponsors, champions, honorees, award presenters, Event committee members, volunteers, auction donors, and our evening guests. We are looking forward to another spirited Starry Starry Night on Saturday April 4th, 2009 at the Wentworth Hotel by the Sea Hotel.
