10th Anniversary Starry Starry NightMarch 27, 2010 City Year New Hampshire's Starry Starry Night is a festive night to celebrate the power of young people to change the world. At the Wentworth by the Sea, City Year New Hampshire honored Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Bill Shaheen with a lifetime of service award for their long history of working to improve the lives of New Hampshire residents. In 2004 the award was received by Senator Judd Gregg and Kathy Gregg, in 2007 by Governor John Lynch and Dr. Susan Lynch, and in 2009 by New Hampshire Charitable Foundation President Lew Feldstein. This year’s event was made possible by generous support of the event sponsors including Heinemann as the Presenting sponsor, and Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare, BAE System, The Live Free or Die Alliance, and Topol Family Foundation as lead sponsors. One of the evening’s most moving moments came when a video clip showed the moment when former City Year corps member Beth Boucher was reunited with Sarah, one of the students she had tutored during her year of service at Manchester’s Hillside Middle School six years ago. “I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me out throughout middle school and helping me out with reading. You being there talking to me and helping me out with everything and making me understand that it’s okay to have a challenge and it’s okay to be yourself. You have no idea how much of a difference you have made in my life." City Year co-founder Alan Khazei was on hand to present Senator Shaheen with her Lifetime of Service Award, and Stephen Gordon of Shaheen and Gordon presented to Bill Shaheen. An entertaining live auction followed, MCd by WMUR Channel 9’s Tom Griffith and peppered with lively skits and songs by City Year corps members.
