WHO IS AN IDEALIST OF THE YEAR?
An Idealist of the Year is a South Floridian who has done extraordinary work to impact our local public schools. Recipients may have made a difference in the life of one student, a school, or even an entire community. Honorees personify the spirit of idealism.
Some Idealists are everyday citizens who are inspiring their peers to give their time to help the community; some are company leaders who are fostering an ethic of service and volunteerism in their company or are helping to build the capacity of important community-based organizations; and some are quiet volunteers who put in long hours outside of work to touch the lives of children or adults in need.
Too often, these people are not recognized for their powerful acts of idealism. City Year seeks to change that! Honor a 2010 Red Jacket Ball Idealist of the Year for his or her commitment to making a difference in South Florida at City Year Miami’s inaugural gala: THE RED JACKET BALL.
RECOGNITION
The 2010 Red Jacket Ball Idealist of the Year will be publicly recognized at City Year Miami’s Red Jacket Ball and receive a plaque from David Landsberg, President and Publisher of The Miami Herald Media Co., honoring them for their service. The honoree will also be featured in the tribute programs distributed at the event and receive one complimentary ticket for a guest.
