A Day in the Life of a City Year Louisiana Corps Member

At City Year Louisiana, everyday is different.  We provide a wide variety of service opportunities that a cover a broad geographic region.  Below is a sample schedule of a corps member serving on a school-based team.

8:10 AM -- Meet up with your teammates and fellow corps for Unity Rally, where you will prepare for a powerful day of service through light physical exercises, exchanging announcements, and inspiring the public.

8:45 AM -- Travel with team to school.

9:00 AM – Small group literacy tutoring for Kindergarten students.

10:00 AM – Small group math tutoring for third grade students.

10:45 AM – Planning and lunch.

12:15 PM – Small group math and reading tutor Kindergarten.

2:15 PM – Small group math tutoring for third grade students.

3:00 PM – VIPS (Volunteers In Public Schools) after school program.

5:30 PM – Team meeting to discuss day and go over schedule for next day

5:45 PM –Travel back to office for weekly meeting to help plan a vacation camp
