Make it a day ON, not a day off!

MLKsq
On January 18, 2010 City Year Los Angeles will honor the work and life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day City Year corps members from across the country lead community members and friends nationwide in celebrating and honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his commitment to social justice and civil rights through a day of transformative service projects.

This year, we will engage 1,000 volunteers in service to transform the campus of Belvedere Middle School in East LA. The day will start powerfully with the City Year Heroes Opening Ceremony in which 150 middle school students and 100 high school students will kick-off their four-month participation in the Young Heroes and City Heroes programs. Immediately following, we will get to work painting murals and blacktop games for the Belvedere's 2,300 students.

When: January 18, 2010

Where: Belvedere Middle School, 312 Record Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90063 (map)
