On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, 125 DC middle school and 75 high school students will gather to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King as they officially begin their six-month partcipation in the City Year Heroes Program.
The inspiring Heroes Opening Ceremony will take place on Monday, January 18, 2010 and will be immediately followed by a day of service. City Year Young Heroes, City Heroes, Washington, DC corps members and alumni, family and friends, and corporate partners will celebrate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through an afternoon of transformative community service in Washington, DC. This event will continue the tradition of corps members, youth, and volunteers making Martin Luther King, Jr. Day a “Day-On,” to commemorate the legacy of Dr. King through community building, service and reflection.
