City Year Patch

A Day In The Life

When you serve with City Year every day is a chance to make a difference.  No two days will be exactly alike, but here is an example of what a typical day might be like with City Year Boston.

8:15 am – Meet up with your teammates and fellow corps members for Unity Rally.  Unity Rally prepares corps members for a powerful day of service through PT (physical training), daily announcements and occasional guest speakers.

8:45-9:15 am – Travel with team to school.

9:30 am  Prepare for your day (can be preparing for your reading block/literacy lessons)

10:00 – 12:00pm – Run literacy curriculum with students.

12:00 pm – Lunch (have lunch with your mentor group or help lead games during recess)

1:00 pm – Provide literacy tutoring

2:00 pm – Prepare with teammates to lead after-school activity about the importance of recycling as part of the Starfish Program.

3:00 pm – Lead after-school activity with students

5:30 pm – Team Circle to discuss the day and review the schedule for tomorrow.

5:45 pm – Head back to the office for weekly planning meeting

8:00 pm – Head home to get some rest!
