“A Day On, Not A Day Off”
Celebrating Dr. King´s birthday as a "day ON, not a day off," City Year engaged hundreds of volunteers in service projects, such as working with seniors, feeding the homeless, painting murals, restoring parks, and running educational activities for children – making a difference in their communities and honoring Dr. King's legacy through service.
Young Heroes Opening Day
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day also marks Young Heroes Opening Day, a high-energy ceremony to kick-off the City Year leadership development and community service program for middle school students. On Monday, January 19, more than 60 middle school students in Central Arkansas will begin their six month commitment to community service by taking their pledge and bursting into a powerful, transformative service project the following day.
