ARAMARK became a City Year National Leadership Sponsor and a Gold Team Sponsor as part of the company's commitment to engaging its employees in meaningful volunteer service to enrich communities. The partnership leverages the shared dedication of ARAMARK and City Year to increase the positive role community centers play for children and their families as part of ARAMARK Building Community, the company's signature community involvement program. Cisco first partnered with City Year in 1993 when it became a founding sponsor of City Year San Jose/Silicon Valley. As a National Leadership Sponsor, Cisco has been instrumental in the launch of many City Year locations. Cisco has served as a founding sponsor of City Year Seattle/King County and Washington, DC and supported the founding of City Year New York after 9/11 and City Year Louisiana in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Cisco has also generously donated essential equipment over the years to build computer networks across the country, including at City Year Louisiana and Headquarters, helping City Year better equip its sites and mobilize its corps members and supporters.
In 2007, at the culmination of nearly 15 years of working together, Cisco renewed its commitment as National Leadership Sponsor to support the development of the first standardized City Year service model for school-based service and after-school programs, Whole School, Whole Child. Together, Cisco and City Year help students stay on track – and get back on track – to graduate by building an effective, data-driven service model and facilitating collaborative training and communication across City Year’s network. Whole School, Whole Child is just one example of Cisco and City Year working together to prove what a leading technology company and dedicated social entrepreneurs can accomplish together.
"Since 1993, Cisco and City Year have been working together to help students succeed by mobilizing a corps of young role models. Cisco is proud to partner with City Year as they continue to focus their efforts on refining and expanding programs in the United States to reach more students in each of their 20 U.S. locations. With City Year's focus on scalability and reaching the students who are most at risk of dropping out of school, our partnership allows City Year to increase collaboration using Cisco technologies to share resources across their network, conduct trainings, and connect corps members with the resources they need to address specific challenges and deliver targeted interventions. Cisco and City Year collaborated to develop an outcome driven program that supports student success by focusing on attendance, behavior, and course performance.

As City Year’s newest National Leadership Sponsor, the Walmart Foundation supports a comprehensive national training program for City Year’s corps of young adults who dedicate a year of full-time service to help students stay on track – and get back on track - to graduate. The partnership and training program focus on increasing student success, especially in literacy, in high-poverty middle schools across the country.
Walmart’s investment will fund the training of nearly 3,400 City Year corps members and staff nationwide through an intensive summer training program and expert in-service trainings during the school year to improve student performance – especially in literacy. Since 70 percent of the nation's 8th graders are not reading at grade level proficiency, and half of the incoming 9th graders in high-poverty schools are reading three years or more below grade level, the Walmart Foundation is dedicated to providing City Year with expert and comprehensive training to make the greatest possible impact on the academic success of middle school students nationwide. Through its philanthropic programs and partnerships, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation fund initiatives focus on creating opportunities in education, workforce development, economic opportunity, environmental sustainability, and health and wellness.
"At Walmart, we recognize the students of today are the leaders of tomorrow. Partnering with City Year to provide extra support will help students excel - not only in school but in life."
- Raul Vazquez, Executive Vice President, Walmart
