City Year Boston is working closely with Comcast to manage projects at the Tobin K-8 School, Tobin Community Center, Parker Hill Library, and Tobin Park in the Mission Hill neighborhood. Over 250 volunteers will be put to work revitalizing a community garden, repainting school hallways, painting murals, packing student supply kits and much more.

Through working with the administration at Howland, City Year in conjunction with Comcast was able to identify more than 20 large scale projects including: painting a number of murals, constructing new seating areas for students, and rehabbing some exterior gardens. This event is also part of Youth Service America’s Global Youth Service Day.

The Comcast Cares Day in Denver will range from larger scale projects, such as landscaping, to a smaller scale tasks like building birdhouses, so the day will provide activities that appeal to a wide variety of interests.

Service location: Very Hungry Caterpillar Literacy Event at Aquinas Building, 15601 Northline Road, Southgate, MI
Time of Service: 4:00pm - 6:00pm on Thursday, April 19
Volunteers will come together to provide an engaging night of literacy fun for children with arts and crafts and reading fun.
City Year Greater Philadelphia

400 volunteers will work side-by-side to paint murals, build picnic benches and light planting.
City Year Little Rock/North Little Rock
Service Location: Project at Rose City Boys & Girls Club
Time of service: 7:00am -12:00 pm
City Year Corps members and friends will work together to update the reading and computer rooms.
Volunteers will complete some basic landscaping, clean and organize the reading room storage area.
City Year Los Angeles
Service location(s): Lankershim Elementary School, North Hollywood

470 volunteerss will paint 20 murals and revitalize the school garden to make Lankershim Elementary School a more engaging and colorful place for students to learn and play.

Service location: Silver Bluff Elementary School- 2609 SW 25 Avenue, Miami, FL 33133
Time of service: 8:00am-1:00pm
Volunteers will come together to wire, equip the school, paint, landscape, and provide enhancements that will increase functionality and beautify the surroundings of the school. Volunteers and partners will makeover the Teachers’ Lounge and paint murals.

150 volunteers will be doing spring cleaning, constructing 8 planting beds for vegetables, landscaping with sod, staining picnic tables, and making summer kids meals for 50.000 units.

Service location: Manhattanville Houses

More than 150 volunteers will be giving back to the local community by beautifying the Manhattanvilles Houses in West Harlem, building and planting vegetable gardens and painting wall murals.

250 volunteers will provide transformative service to El Centro de la Raza. El Centro de
la Raza is an organization that works to achieve social justice. Projects include: multiple painting locations, floor replacement, landscaping and repaving of parking lot.

Service location(s): Langley Education Campus, 101 T Street NE Washington, DC 20002
Time of service: 8:00am - 2:00pm
Service at Langley Education Campus will take place both indoors and outdoors. Inside, colorful and educational murals will match the STEM theme of the school such, the periodic table and timeline of great inventions. There will be a number of environmentally oriented garden projects outdoors as well as beautification of the neighboring recreation center and men’s shelter.
