Job Summary:

The Education Manager (EM) is responsible for the development and training of City Year corps members in all aspects of the Whole School, Whole Child program.The mission of City Year’s Whole School, Whole Child program model is to give students the support they need to continue on the path to success, by providing academic support, a positive school climate, and afterschool programs. The EM will also work with Whole School, Whole Child staff to ensure quality programming and support best practices in service. In addition, the EM will be responsible for collecting, managing, analyzing and reporting on a wide variety of data for the Washington, DC site.

Position Overview:

City Year is seeking an Education Manager (EM) to train a diverse group of 17-24 year old AmeriCorps members in school-based service and manage external relationships with service partners. The EM is also responsible for managing City Year Washington, DC’s evaluation processes.

Responsibilities:

Management of Evaluation Processes: Create evaluation calendar and analyze student-level data and various survey data to assess impact of specific programming; manage and monitor cyImpact (City Year’s internal online database) as well as train and support staff and corps members on its use; use evaluation for continuous improvement and to identify best practices; participate in regular conference calls with Headquarters and other site representatives Development and Training of Corps Members: Plan and implement a10-month training calendar with particular attention to school-based service and support; coordinate with specific service partners and/or public school offices to integrate corps members into district-wide trainings; observe and consult with corps members in school placements throughout the year to improve program delivery and to maximize impact in service; develop additional trainings around District of Columbia Public Schools Professional Development Days, as they support and pertain to City Year service    Co-management of Whole School, Whole Child Program: Support partnership implementation in conjunction with the Deputy Director, coordinate with Whole School, Whole Child program management staff to implement site-specific initiatives; manage all Whole School, Whole Child evaluation processes, including documentation of tutoring and mentoring hours and survey distribution and collection; implement corps member-led discussion cohorts in order to encourage professional dialogue and sharing across teams

Requirements:

Qualifications· Teaching experience and/or education background ideal· Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred, with 3+ years of experience in an educational setting· Strong desire to work with a diverse staff and corps · Demonstrated ability to work as both a team member and as an independent leader· Experience in data analysis and management· Capability to build and manage relationships with service partners· Ability to handle multiple tasks and think critically· Strong oral and communication skills· Attention to detail and organization· Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills· A sense of humor, flexibility and enjoyment in working with children · Belief in the City Year mission and the goals of the Whole School, Whole Child program
