Job Summary:Position Overview:City Year Boston is seeking a dynamic, creative, and detail-oriented Stewardship Manager who will oversee the site’s donor communication and recognition programs. Reporting to the Development Director, and working closely with other development staff, volunteers, and board members, the Stewardship Manager will develop and execute high quality programs and services to enable our externally-based fund raising team to work most closely with their donors and volunteers. In addition, the Stewardship Manager will work closely with the External Affairs team to leverage annual events and special programs for donor engagement purposes. In total, the development team is responsible for securing $3.0M or more in annual support from individual, corporate, and foundation sources this fiscal year. City Year Boston’s scaled impact plan, which will be implemented over the next five years, projects a growth in program size that would increase this annual fundraising goal to $7.0M.
Responsibilities:Work with the Development Director, Advisory Board’s Development Committee, and development team to develop and implement a high quality stewardship program that will support, recognize and thank City Year Boston’s corporate, foundation, and individual supporters and continue to engage them in our work in schools and communities; collaborate with the External Affairs team to leverage annual events and special programs to engage supporters at all levels in City Year’s work; manage a diverse portfolio of recognition activities and programs including, but not limited to, printed and online publications, the Champions Circle initiative, receptions, and dinners; assist the Starry Starry Night (annual gala) committee with the preparation of invitation lists, event collateral, recognition pieces, and other special requests; oversee the creation and distribution of donor acknowledgement materials such as thank you notes, team sponsor updates, and program reports; conduct research on existing and potential supporters as requested by the Development Director and Development Committee and prepare reports for use by Board members and senior leadership; ensure donor information contained in Raisers Edge database is accurate and updates are performed regularly in collaboration with Data Services Coordinator; build and maintain strong, positive relationships with existing and prospective corporate, foundation, and individual funding sources, responding to the requests and ensuring they have what they need to have a positive philanthropic relationship with City Year; create and implement systems and processes to increase operational efficiencies, enhance evaluation procedures and surpass fundraising goals; and other duties as assigned by the Development Director.
Requirements:- BA/BS degree required- 3+ years of project management experience in a development, communications, or stewardship role- Excellent organizational skills, ability to handle multiple tasks and think critically- Exceptional oral and written communication skills with an ability to engage and inspire a wide range of audiences- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with diverse backgrounds, interests, and skills- Strong base of knowledge of all aspects of fundraising including foundation and corporate relations, individual giving programs, and special events- Commitment to helping a highly successful organization implement systems and structures to support significant growth- Strategic, analytical approach combined with a strong work ethic, interpersonal professionalism and charisma - Deep understanding of City Year’s mission and the national service movement is helpful- Experience using Raisers Edge or other database software is helpful- AmeriCorps/City Year alumni are encouraged to apply
