Job Summary:
Position Overview:City Year Boston is seeking an articulate and energetic Foundation Relations Manager who will lead the site’s efforts in securing financial support for City Year programs and services. Reporting to the Development Director and working closely the other senior leaders and board members, the Foundation Relations Manager will develop and execute against a comprehensive development plan that includes annual operating support and transformational grants. Other members of the City Year Boston development team, each of whom also report to the Development Director, include an Individual Giving Officer, Corporate Relations Manager, Stewardship Manager, and Data Services and Research Coordinator. In total, the development team is responsible for securing $3.0M or more in annual support from individual, corporate, and foundation sources this fiscal year. City Year Boston’s scaled impact plan, which will be implemented over the next five years, projects a growth in program size that would increase this annual fundraising goal to $7.0M.
Responsibilities:Work with the Executive Director, Advisory Board’s Development Committee, and development team to identify, cultivate, and solicit support from Boston-area foundations with a goal of securing $1M or more in annual support this fiscal year; write high-quality letters of intent, grant proposals, donor reports, and gift acknowledgements; build and maintain strong, positive relationships with donors and staff of existing and prospective supporters; increase awareness of City Year’s work in Boston by coordinating meetings, visits, and roundtables with City Year Boston leadership, Board members, corps members, and foundation representatives; develop a robust and diverse pipeline of foundations invested in our work and able to support City Year Boston’s scaled impact plan and long-term goal of securing $1.5-2.0M in annual support; maintain accurate records on foundation leadership and related supporters through regular updates in the Raisers Edge database; collaborate with the Individual Giving Officer, Stewardship Manager, and External Affairs team to engage foundation representatives in City Year events; and support other development initiatives as requested by the Director of Development.
Requirements:- BA/BS degree required- 3-5 years of successful fundraising experience working directly with a range of individual and corporate foundations- Proven ability to secure $1M or more in annual foundation support for existing programs and new initiatives, and experience cultivating significant new relationships to meet annual growth goals- Exceptional oral and written communication skills with an ability to engage and inspire a wide range of audiences- Strong base of knowledge of all aspects of fundraising including foundation and corporate relations, grant management, special events and individual giving- Commitment to helping a highly successful organization meet annual fundraising goals and build the capacity needed for significant growth- Strategic, analytical approach combined with a strong work ethic and interpersonal professionalism- Excellent organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks and deadlines, and success in managing others to meet deadlines- Deep understanding of City Year’s mission and the national service movement is helpful- Experience working in or with the foundation community of Boston is helpful but not necessary- AmeriCorps/City Year alumni are encouraged to apply
