Since its founding, City Year has relied on its corporate, government, foundation and individual partners to create meaningful social change. With a wide range of support from some of New York City’s philanthropic leaders, City Year New York has had a strong fundraising track record and is looking to launch a scaled impact plan to grow its program throughout New York City. As the leader of the City Year New York Development Team, the Deputy Executive Director of Development is responsible for leveraging the resources, talents and skills of the philanthropic sector to build City Year New York and create change in communities across the city. Principle responsibilities:· Manage a Team of Development Professionals: Hire, manage and retain a team of five development professionals to manage different aspects of the development pipeline. · Develop and Implement a Revenue Generation Strategy: Create strategy to identify and secure corporate, foundation, individual and government partnerships, work with development staff to develop target list of prospects, create customized service products with appropriate price points, and develop sales materials. Understand the marketing and business needs of corporations and foundations and develop and implement a revenue generation strategy that addresses these needs.· Identify Potential Corporate, Foundation, Government and Individual Partners: Identify and track new and existing prospects.· Create Powerful Sales Materials: Write powerful and inspiring letters and proposals and prepare dynamic presentations customized for target audience.· Secure Meetings: Leverage current and new relationships to secure meetings with CEOs and Senior Vice Presidents.· Leverage Board Members and champion relationships: Work with the Executive Director to manage Board of Directors and external committees to secure support for City Year New York. · Secure Resources from Individuals, Corporations and Foundations: Identify and engage Presidents, CEOs and Senior Vice Presidents to invest financially in City Year and its youth and children. Work both independently and with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors to solicit and close gifts to raise annual operating budget in total.· Develop and Maintain Relationships: Nurture partnerships with current and prospective funders through donor recognition programs and stewardship. Cultivate long-term relationships to ensure continued funding and funder involvement.· Manage all fundraising events. Work with development and program team to oversee all development aspects of fundraising and cultivation events including annual dinner, cultivation breakfasts, corps fundraiser, Associate and Alumni Board events etc.Donor Management: Develop and grow our donor base. Manage and oversee the cultivation for all donors. Ensure diversity and sustainability of site donor base. Oversee the entire development business process from donor identification through collections to stewardship.· Support Team Sponsor Program: Reinforce the program that trains and enables corps member to interact with and inspire their corporate partnersOrganizational Management: Help shape organizational strategy and for playing a leadership role in implementing the agency’s operating plan, as a member of the Leadership Team. In addition, the Development Director will develop and manage the Development revenue and expenditure budget.

Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferableDemonstrated commitment to service, and passion for City Year’s mission and strategy. · 5+ years in either fundraising, corporate sales, business development, communications or account management.Strategic thinker with ability to manage short term and long term plans and goals, with a record of achieving results. · Ability to work with diverse groups of young adults in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.· Ability to work with other members of the staff and to work closely with development department.· Demonstrated management of personnel required.· Powerful and inspiring writing and public speaking skills. Ability to deliver inspiring and succinct presentations and conduct productive meetings. · Strong and efficient use of word, excel and PowerPoint.Flexibility and a sense of humor
