Job Summary:

Reporting to the Program Director, the Program Manager is responsible for the overall management of the day-to-day team based operations of two senior corps members and up to 18 corps members. City Year corps members work full-time in schools and after-school programs to promote academic success, build capacity and lead citizens in service.

Position Overview:

The Program Manager (PM) is responsible for the implementation of City Year Rhode Island’s program and service objectives for their teams. The PM plays a critical role implementing City Year’s school-based and geographically based service model, while leading Corps Members through the civic engagement and leadership development curriculum throughout the ten-month program year.

Responsibilities:

- Lead and manage team of leaders, ages 17-24 · Manage relationship with school principal, teachers and service partner liaison of after-school program(s)· Coach and challenge corps members in the areas of project planning, managing peers, building relationships and developing leadership skills · Conduct regular performance reviews and develop team-based activities and structured trainings to build skills for corps members and their teams· Uphold high standards for corps members· Manage retention and the overall experience of the corps· Oversee GED experience for corps members working on their GED· Manage high impact service and evaluate outcomes· Engage the community and external champions in on-going high impact service days· Help recruit future corps members by supporting the recruitment department in conducting on-going interviews throughout the year and participating in selection committees.· Build relationships with community-based organizations

Requirements:

Commitment to community service, national service and development of young adults as leadersPrevious community service work experience, specifically working and supervising young adults Experience working in non-profit, social service or educational settingsDemonstrated commitment to and experience in working with a diverse and inclusive workforce Demonstrated ability to work effectively with external stakeholders, champions, senior managers and staffProven ability to work as both a team member and independent leader Previous leadership and management experienceProven organizational and program management experience Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, working effectively towards multiple deadlinesExcellent written and oral communication skillsProficiency in MS Word, Excel, and MS Outlook College degree or equivalent years of experience in related field preferredFluency in Spanish a plus
