COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION
In addition to helping schools and students reach new heights, City Year corps members transform communities through physical service projects. These restoration projects help break down social barriers and inspire people to serve. By engaging community members, corporate partners, and civic leaders in this work, corps members help share the power of service. Approximately 3 times each month, the entire corps participates in a day-long physical project, such as: - Turning a vacant lot into a community garden;
- Painting vibrant murals over graffiti; and
- Preparing meals for the homeless.

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT
.jpg) | Our goal is to not only serve children and schools but to also inform and inspire others to action for the community. Corps members attend community events where they meet with and engage various dignitaries, legislators, executives and politicians. At these events they have an opportunity to represent City Year, helping to further our commitment to national service through inspiring others and network with leaders who can help transform their lives after their "city year." |
