A Day in the Life

When you serve with City Year every day is a chance to make a difference. 

No two days are exactly alike.  Below is an example of what a typical day might look like at City Year Columbus:

8:15 am – Meet up with your team and fellow corps members at the Ohio Statehouse for Unity Rally.  Unity Rally prepares corps members for a powerful day of service through PT (physical training), daily announcements, and occasional guest speakers.

8:45-9:00 am – Travel with team on COTA (Central Ohio Transit Authority) to service site.

9:15 am – Begin your day by providing academic support with students in your classroom.

10:45 am – Work one-on-one with focus students providing literacy-based tutoring outside of the classroom.

11:30 am – Corps member lunch.

12:00 pm – Meet with teammates to facilitate Peaceful Play activities on the school playground during student recess.

1:00 pm -- Work one-on-one with focus students providing literacy-based tutoring outside of the classroom.

2:45 pm –  Prepare with teammates to lead after-school activity about the importance of recycling as part of the Starfish Program..

3:30 pm – Lead after school activities with elementary school students.

5:30 pm – Team meeting to discuss the day and review the schedule for tomorrow.

5:45 pm – Take bus back to office for weekly planning meeting on Camp City Year.

7:30 pm – Head home to get some rest!
