YOUNG HEROES

Young Heroes is a five-month community service and leadership development program, that takes place on Saturdays from January to May, for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students in Central Ohio.  Sponsored by National City, Young Hero participants work in diverse teams throughout the program and learn about teamwork, diversity, leadership, and local and national social issues.

CITY HEROES

City Heroes is the high-school version of the Young Heroes program.  The program engages diverse high school students throughout Central Ohio in an intense five month leadership development, social awareness and community service program that takes place over five Saturdays from January to May.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

Both of the above Heroes Programs are seeking community volunteers to serve as Team Leaders from January through May.  Team Leaders work directly with a diverse team of 8-12 middle or high school aged youth as they participate in workshops, discussions, and community service projects throughout their neighborhoods. Team Leaders will help both programs explore important social issues that may affect them personally; they will build strong mentoring relationships; and they will watch the youth of Columbus learn and grow as they expand their concept of what it means to be an emerging adult and an active citizen in Columbus and in our America.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and be prepared to fulfill all requirements of the application process:

1.  Submit an application - City Hereos TL Application or Young Heroes TL Application. 
2. Participate in an interview with City Year
3. Agree to a background check free of charge.
4. Attend and participate in the Team Leader Training Academy on Saturday November 14, Heroes Training Academy (Young Heroes December 12^th, City Heroes Training Academy January 8^th and 9^th), Heroes Opening Day on Jan 18^th, and Heroes Graduation on May 22nd.
