Join more than 500 citizen supporters, business and community leaders, and City Year Columbia corps members for an evening of inspiration, fun and celebration in a high-energy program. The City of Columbia is partnering with City Year for this year’s gala dinner which will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. We will be honoring President and Mrs. Sorensen for the ripples of impact and hope they have brought to the Columbia community for the last six years.
As President of the University of South Carolina, Dr. Sorensen has made tremendous strides in the partnership between the University of South Carolina and the City of Columbia. His visionary leadership is demonstrated through initiatives such as the Innovista Research Project and the River Development. Both programs have the potential to launch the City of Columbia to new heights by improving its economic health and overall quality of life.
