Our Corps

Highly Skilled Near-Peer mentors

In Columbia, many children grow up in the midst of poverty, causing them to fall behind in school. But 24 highly skilled City Year corps members are working to turn this around.

Our Impact

powerful results

In 1992, Marie-Louise Ramsdale, Harvard Law student, attended a City Year event. Inspired, she wrote a two-page proposal to bring City Year to South Carolina. The next year, her dream was realized. Since then, we’ve mentored more than 40,000 students in Columbia, and along the way, we measured our success.

By 2023, we aspire to serve 1 million students per day, in over 1,200 schools nationwide, something that’s only possible with the continued support of our donors and partners.
