As a City Year Cleveland corps member, you will join 60 of your peers in serving elementary, middle and high school youth in Cleveland's public schools to make a difference in their lives and communities. City Year Cleveland corps members provide school-based service, youth leadership programs and transform communities through their hallmark service.

  • Receive a stipend and health care benefits and earn an education award to help with the costs of college.   
    • $5,350.00 education award (for members who complete 1,700 hours of service).
      Corps members who complete the 2010-2011 service year receive a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $5,350 (the increase from the current $4,725 Education Award is pending passages of the 2010 federal budget).
    • Modest bi-weekly stipend (varies from site to site but is about $340 in Cleveland or $170 per week)
    • Uniform provided by The Timberland Company and ARAMARK.
    • Cell phone provided by T-Mobile USA.
    • Basic health insurance
    • Student loan forbearance (on qualified student loans)
    • Networking opportunities and professional development training
    • Leadership skills, project management skills, education guidance support, and diversity training

THE APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Complete or download the online application.  You may also contact our recruitment department to have a copy forwarded. 
  • Two letters of recommendation and an essay are required.  Using the format provided in the application, provide personal, academic or professional contacts and a typed essay. 
  • Mail the completed application and accompanying documentation to City Year Cleveland. 
  • Being a competitive program, City Year Cleveland will schedule and conduct candidate interviews.
