Global Youth Service Day

Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) is organized by Youth Service America with the Global Youth Action Network as its key partner and a consortium of international organizations and over 125 national partners with thousands of local organizations. GYSD is an annual global event that highlights and celebrates the ongoing contributions of youth to their communities through volunteer service and service-learning.

City Year Cleveland has been proud to participate in GYSD over the past several years.  On April 15th and 16th of 2011 City Year partnered with Fairhill Partners, the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities, and the Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization for transformative service across the City of Cleveland. With these partners, City Year and Cleveland Metropolitan School District high school students were able to create gardening beds for Fairhill Partner's intergenerational gardening program, do a lakefront beach clean-up at Edgewater Park and do landscaping at Willard Park, host of the Free Stamp sculpture downtown.
