On Tuesday, 100 Hours of Power, powered by Comcast, began in Chicago at 12 Noon. At 10 AM City Year Chicago kicked off the event with a high energy rally in Daley Plaza, hosted by ABC7's Roz Varon.

Immediately following the ceremony, City Year Chicago corps members deployed to their service sites. Service included work with the Illinois Education Foundation and Camp of Dreams.

Read what corps members and service partners had to say about the first 24 hours of 100 Hours of Power.

From one of our Service Partners:

Lori, Director of Operations at Camp of Dreams

  1. How will this overnight service benefit your organization? It’s a much needed service we have no time for. The work would never have been done (or as well) without City Year.
  2. What do you think about the 100 Hours of Power event in general? I think 100 Hours of Power is doing good service for the community. I like the sence of community being built from [being in the different neighborhoods].

  2. How are you feeling right now?  Be honest! EXCITED! THRILLED! PUMPED!

From the Service Coordinators:

Carlyn, City Year Chicago Senior Corps Member

  1. What’s been the most memorable part of planning your service for tonight? So far seeing it in action. It’s been great so far!
