On October 2, 2010 we will celebrate Opening Day with our 2010-2011 corps and bring the meaning of "it takes a village" to life.

breakshot_byAndyDeanJoin us as 140 young leaders kick off a year of full-time service and pledge to serve Boston's schools and communities. We will come together after the morning ceremony to transform neighboring elementary and high schools in Jamaica Plain to ensure they are safe, welcoming and inspiring places to learn and grow. As City Year corps members, staff, family, friends and champions gather in one Boston neighborhood to create
physical change that will impact the entire
community, we will all be part of one village.

9:30 a.m. Ceremony at English High School in Jamaica Plain (144 McBride Street)
10:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Service projects begin at English High and Agassiz Elementary School

These diverse men and women are among 1,775 City Year corps members in 19 locations across America and two internationally, who will serve more than 2.8 million hours to community and country. Each of these young leaders is making a difference by individually serving 1,700 hours as tutors, mentors and role models. They live the City Year tagline: give a year. change the world.
